I'm definitely sad about Manjaro but it's not "dead" yet, let's see how the fork will go but yeah, I think systemd free is better, unless they decide to dump it too. I'm disgusted by systemd.   Seems the guy making it or something worked for Microsoft or something something, I don't remember it exactly but seems fishy as hell.
Damn you, '!'. I just was looking @ Artix. Now there's yet another distro I want to check out! And you made me learn about XLibre. Making me aware of stuff, you low-down dirty bastard!

Seriously, thank God several someones have taken that up!

Right after journalists first began covering the planned fork Xlibre, on June 6th 2025, Redhat employees started a purge on the Xlibre founder's GitLab account on freedesktop.org: deleted the git repo, tickets, merge requests, etc, and so fired the shot that the whole world heard.

I guess that's also a good demonstration of forking not necessarily being a bad thing.

They deleted XLibre documentation from Arch Wiki too. Weird things going on. Although, honestly, even though I'm disgusted by systemd / wayland, I think it's still "ok" for now... "until further notice"! LOL

I mean, those distros are kind'a new still. Also, personally, I don't consider a distro a distro if it's based on another distro. Using it for serious server stuff and such, I think not "reliable". I'm hoping something like Arch pops up but similar to Artix but "pure".

I've seen a whole bunch starting to look at FreeBSD though. Seems a lot of people turning to BSD because of systemd and wayland.

GhostBSD seems interesting too, although, if I would (my friend LOL not my PC) go BSD, probably, I would just go FreeBSD and not something made on top of it. I mean, with help of A.I. I managed to fix Arch Linux so I think BSD won't be harder than that. :silent:  (famous last words )

By the way, if you are going to use XLibre, there's also https://x.com/SonicDesktop, to get you "KDE Plasma".

They're also making it for FreeBSD, looks promising.
