Note: Currenly, I got no PC but I'm writing (well, my friend is doing it, I'm kind'a just posting my friend's text and editing it a bit) a series of step by step guides how to move from Windows to Linux, with the help of my friend's damn nice dreamy laptop. (Intel 14700HX, 96GB DDR5, Nvidia RTX 4070 8GB, 1TB NVMe, 240Hz monitor, 100Hz external monitor)

000. Introduction

Switching from Windows to Linux, a realistic beginner friendly guide.

Trying to post a simple step by step guide on how to move from Windows to Linux, specifically aimed at people like myself. I'm sure there are a ton of them out there just like me. Truth is, I never liked Linux. During the years, I did try it many times, but every damn time, I went back to Windows. Why? Because Linux was a moronic idiotic operating system for the avergage user. Mind you, I'm no avergage user. A full-fledged programmer, database specialist, graphics designer and whatnot. I know all kinds of goodies, from back in the Atari / Amiga days all the way to DOS and Windows. I never jumped over to Linux / Unix because my aim was to do things, not waste my time on managing an operating system.

As years passed by, Windows became more and more moronic, with every update, it became less and less "Windows" and more "Linux", the very thing I always avoided. So, no, I'm no Linux "zealot", not even close. As a matter of fact, I'm one of those "Linux haters" but the pain of using Windows 11 is now MUCH higher than learning Linux, honest. I never expected to like Linux or even use it, ever. Windows 11 changed all that. It is painful to use, it fights you in all kinds of ways. It looks "chic" at first but there is something wrong with it, the theme, the colors, they are just "off". I can't put my finger on it but it's there, it's definitely there.

Windows 11 is a completely fooly (foolish) system. It's full of junk, all kinds of nasty is running in this thing, you have to install a whole lot of crap from unknown sources just to make it run somewhat tolerable. Then it has the dark mode, which is yet another cluster fuck in and of itself. This thing flashbangs you! Randomly but all the time. You restore taskmanager from minimized state? BANG, fuck you, get flashbanged. You open explorer? BANG, fuck you, get flashbanged. You open a new tab in explorer? BANG, fuck you, get flashbanged. You open any other application? BANG, fuck you, get flashbanged. I think someone made a simple patch that fixed this, but really, do you want this shit? Enough already. Windows passed the point of no return long time ago, it's time to realize, Windows as we know it is gone. This thing is just an insult to anyone using it. Have some self-respect, put the time, and move from it.

   Here, look at this crap:

Is this what you really want to accept? For 1? 2? 3? or more FUCKING YEARS? They didn't fix this! Something that someone fixed with a simple patch! And after they claimed "it's fixed", it's really not. There are still flashbangs, randomly here and there. Oh by the way, the fix isn't active for everyone either, even if you installed the update! I guess maybe they activate it remotely for random set of people. Just that is sick. How much shit are you going to take up your ass? No really, it's enough. If you ever needed a big fat juicey red flag, THIS IS IT. Don't walk away from Windows, RUN AWAY, RUN RUN RUN!!!

Now, an important point. Moving away from Windows to Linux won't take you to Linux. Why? Well, because ironically, Linux is MORE Windows than Windows now! The OLD GOOD Windows that we all not just liked but expected and wanted and wished it would become! Do you see the heavy irony? In my opinion, Windows isn't Windows anymore. It's an imposter trying trick us all into thinking it's Windows, but it's sooo not. Linux is Windows. Seriously, it is! Your jaw will drop when you try Linux. You will kick yourself in the ass, just like me, that you didn't do this sooner. It's time to free yourself from drowning in Windows' insanity, the insults, and all the other bullshit that comes with Windows.

Take the plunge! Do it! It's worth it! Linux is ready! It really is, why? Because Linux isn't Linux anymore. Linux is now "Windows"! I can almost promise you, once you try Linux, a real try, you will NOT be coming back to Windows, ever again.

Of course, I'm not insane, you will need to put a few not hours but days, depending on your specific needs, to set things up right and learn how options and such work. Also, Linux isn't fully ready but with the A.I. these days (Grok is excellent help in this, free edition even), you won't need to kiss some random Linux greek's ass on a forum and wait hours to days for maybe an answer. One of the reasons I didn't like Linux was actually its community. The elitist bullshit attitude and all. I always found Windows community much nicer, much more helpful but we have A.I. now. You don't need those "zealots" anymore! A.I. has freed us from their tyranny. Yes, tyranny, because to me, it felt that way. Almost every interaction I had with Linux community ended up getting banned or I wanted to vomit. Anyway, I installed Linux and tried several editions, zero forum use! Used Grok free edition, but I'm sure any A.I. will be able to assist you. They are very good in technical stuff.

I won't sugar coat things, you will see a few annoying issues here and there but it's 99% solvable in my opinion. I didn't find a single issue that A.I. couldn't help me with, in matter of SECONDS.

Many Windows users are like me, we like easy usable stuff. It doesn't mean we are idiots, it just means we have better things to do than fighting an operating system. And I tell you, with Linux, you do the fight still but only a few hours and days and that's it. No more fights. It will run smoothly, basically forever. You will finally feel the old freedom feeling that we all used to love, using our own computers. It's an amazing feeling and I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way.

This is a lot of text, yes, but you know, it's not for those with short attention spans anyway, they are not one of us. :shifty: :lolno: :shifty: This is aimed the those like myself. I'll try my best to make the guide as simple and as clear as possible. Personally I dislike watching some YouTube video for such things, it's annoying as fuck. Blurry, need to be paused and of course got to listen to mandatory bullshit from the person as well, they never just get to the main subject. :silent: I'll split things into sections, easy quick to read and understand, with photos and screenshots.

I'm doing this for those that are like me, lost, sick of Windows but don't have the energry to actually move to Linux. Hopefully, this guide will help you move. I'll make it as "lazy" as possible and it's no problem. It doesn't mean you are an idiot, you have more important things to do and so, this guide needs to be simple, clear and help you running Linux quick as possible.

I make this not just for me or you, but also out of spite. I'm SICK AND TIRED OF Microsoft. As I often have said in here, FUCK THEM. TO HELL WITH THEM. THEY DID THIS TO THEMSELVES. Microsoft is dead (well, not dead dead but similar to I.B.M. dead), they just don't know it yet.

Again, don't worry. You won't really move away from Windows to Linux. You will be moving away from "Windows" to actual Windows! It will definitely feel like it! And yes, there is Steam (most Windows games will work not just fine but even faster smoother than Windows! Oh the irony!) and even sandboxed Google Chrome!

Last but not least, fuck all of those Linux "zealots" too, they were so rude to me for years and year and many times. Thank God for A.I.!
